Overnight exploration of beautiful, remote Santa Fe, Veraguas by horse.
The Destination. The village of Santa Fe (pop 2800) is perched in the foothills of the Tabasara mountain range. The district extends from the farmlands north to the rainforest and cloud forests of Santa Fe National Park.
Smaller communities of a few houses dot the slopes and rural dirt roads and foot paths connect these communities.
The Journey. In this overnight trip, we make a large loop, venturing up rural roads and footpaths on horseback, traveling through farm, village and forest landscapes to the last village before the National Park. We stop to hike to a remote falls area, and stay overnight in roadless town (arrival by horse or on foot only) bordering the National Park. We enjoy a locally cooked dinner. The next day, we continue on our journey after a simple panamanian breakfast, returning to Santa Fe.
